1986 SAAB 900 Turbo Restoration

The very first step in the restoration process was remembering that
I had an extra headlight bezel in the garage, the right one, too!
December 7, 2006:


January 4, 2007
FINALLY, after a month-long ordeal with the insurance company, it's on its way to the SAAB shop for repairs!


January 11, 2007 - Back from the SAAB shop repaired!


February 8, 2007 - Back from the paint shop - DONE!

February 19, 2007:

Further restorative work done to date

  • Refurbished original side mirrors including the use of black 100% silicon to prevent wobbling. Power adjustments now all work.
  • Replaced right wiper arm with a used one (free) from Valet Auto. Nut cover was broken on original.
  • Used Meguiar's Mirror Glaze Professional Vinyl & Rubber Cleaner/Conditioner to clean/restore/refurbish bumpers, grill, mudflaps and rear spoiler.
  • Painted side vent covers with Wurth Satin Black Trim Paint (from Eeuroparts.com), Art # 0893 0190.
  • Painted rear window louvers flat black using Rustoleum Flat Protective Enamel 7776.
  • Made replacement decor strip for rear bumper using 1/2-inch wide, 1/16-inch thick aluminum from Ace Hardware and Goop.
